The show Futurama is about a
25-year old pizza delivery boy in New York City named Phillip Fry. He
accidentally got frozen and woke up 1000 years later. His life was going
nowhere so he decided to have a fresh start after he wake up. It was year 2999
then, and technology further advanced. He decided to work for Planet Express
Corporation, which delivers packages to the five quadrants of the universe.
There, he met a lot of new people, robots and aliens. Yes, aliens and robots
are living with mutated humans that time. There, he became friends with Turanga
Leela, a pretty one-eyed alien who is loving yet can kick-ass and also with
Bender, a robot with human flaws and addicted to liquor, cigars, and stealing.
The
show Futurama showed the future where aliens, robots and humans adapted with
each other. There are flying cars, and many other innovative and advanced
technologies. It shows the future as where different new species are present,
like there are mutants and hybrids of aliens and humans. Robots are also everywhere,
and it acts like humans. Robots have work and social life. They also have
feelings and can also be evil. Humans aren’t the ones who dominated the Earth
anymore.
The
show tackled time travel as not entirely travelling with a machine. The main character
was simply frozen for 1000 years. He didn't die, so I can assume that all his
cells just stopped working once he was frozen but once he was thawed, his cells
and organs worked properly again. Since his cells stopped working, he also
didn't grow old. For me it is not time travel because basically time just
passed by while he was frozen and he didn't transcend any time medium or
anything in order to go 1000 years in the future.
